Haeger, Alice & Valerie: Our
Ecuador Trip . The Voice of
Zion 4/2001.
(February 16-24,2001)
As we walked
down the steps of the airplane with our parents and Tomm Stewart, we
were greeted by the humid, warm air of Guayaquil. We were excited and
nervous as we went through the Ecuadorean customs. After finding Our
baggage, we made our way to the terminal, where we saw many heads
bobbing up and down looking into the airport lobby. We exited the
building to find Jon Bloomquist, Alfredo Hernandez, and Ivan Viteri. As
we drove through the city to the Hernandez home, the warm air carried
many new smells to our nostrils. It was hard to believe that we had
finally arrived. It was…

Ecuadorin
matkamme
Guayaqilin
kostean lämmin ilma tervehti meitä kävellessämme lentokoneen rappuja
alas. Olimme innostuneita mennessämme Ecuadorin tullin läpi.
Oli vaikea uskoa, että olimme viimein saapuneet. Gladys ja Maria
Hernandez toivottivat meidät tervetulleiksi kotiinsa. Seuraavat kaksi päivää
kului Guayaqilissa seurojen pidossa.
paremmin.

Kokouksen keskeisin asia oli tapahtuma Ecuadorissa, jossa veljet olivat
käyneet pitämässä seuroja….Seuroissa 12 ihmistä sai
"parannuksen armon"….Yksimielisesti päätettiin lähetystyötä
jatkaa…

Mission Trip, March 27 -April 3, 2001.
When
the first announcement of the birth of Christ was made to the shepherds
tending their flocks at night, these "glad tidings" were
directed to "all people." This miracle has been witnessed and
experienced in Ecuador, among other places, during the past year. Keith
Waaraniemi and I made an LLC-sponsored mission trip to Ecuador March
27-April 3. During this seven-day trip, services were held in three
localities: Quito, Riobamba, and Guayaquil. God opened hearts to repent
and believe the gospel

Mietteitä
Ecuadorissa
Päivä on polttavan
kuuma. Istun turistibussissa Ecuadorissa ja on todella nihkeä olo. Pää
alkaa nyökähtelemään, raukeus iskee. Silloin silmiini osuu kuva
kadulta. Pieni poika pitää isänsä kädestä kiinni ja ohjaa tätä
liikenteen tungoksessa. Isällä on toisessa kädessään pieni kippo.
Siihen he yhdessä keräävät almuja perheen elatukseksi. Kotona voi
olla suurikin perhe ja muuta toimeen tuloa sokealla isällä ei ole.

The tenth mission trip to Ecuador sponsored by the Laestadian Lutheran
Church took place in May
2001. Randy Herrala and I were scheduled for this trip- Randy's third
trip and my first. My preparations for this trip to South America began
about ten months ago with a visit to my local physician for
immunizations needed to travel to Ecuador. I also needed to renew my
passport. Soon…

Ecuadorean Locations
We, Russell
and Sinikka Roiko flew with Jon Bloomquist from Minneapolis to Guayaquil,
Ecuador. Carlos Hernandez, his father Alfredo and sister Maria, met us
at the airport. Carlos, who lives in Minneapolis had gone to Ecuador
earlier to take care of business. It was nice to be met by familiar
faces. At the Hernandez, home Carlos's mother, Gladys met us at the door
and had everything ready for us. Saturday was for jet-lag recovery with
some time to tour Guayaquil. We
also attempted to arrange our flights to and from Loja, in southern
Ecuador.

The Laestadian Lutheran Church continued the mission work of
God's Kingdom with a May 13 - 21 visit to Ecuador by ministers Randall
Herrala, from Rockford, Minn., and John Stewart from Snohomish, Wash. It
was the LLC's 17th mission trip, the fourth for Herrala and the first
for Stewart. Services, children's lessons, and discussion were held in
four geographic areas: Loja, Quito, Riobamba (two area locations), and
Guayaquil...

The saving gospel of the redemption in Christ shone brighter than the
equatorial sunshine at Laestadian Lutheran Church-sponsored mission
services in the Ecuadorean cities of Guayaquil, Quito, and Riobamba in
February. Tomm Stewart of Seattle, travelling for the first time to this
South American nation, shares news and his impressions of the journey on
which God blessed His Word and many service guests received the grace of
repentance.

The Gospel Brings Peace to Seeking Hearts in Ecuador. The Voice of Zion
6/2000.
…LLC arranged services in Guayaquil February 17-21, 15-20 people
attended.. Several people received grace to believe their sins forgiven…
Next trip took place March 23-28, again there were some who received the
grace of repentance… Third trip took place May 18-22. Services were
held in Guayaguil and in Quito. Several new people repented… The types
of questions raised and discussed (on the trips) included the following:
*What is the background of Laestadian Lutheran Christianity, and why it
is sponsoring services in Ecuador?
*There are many religions; how do you know which one is correct?
*How do I identify the true group of believers?
*How does a believer view the sacraments?
*Do Laestadians worship the former saints, for example, Virgin mary?
*How can a sinful person preach the gospel?
*What does the Bible say about purgatory?
*Can forgivness be received directly from God?
The new belivers also wished to know more about the teachings of Martin
Luther and the significance of prayer.
